The 2027 Nissan Z carries the two-passenger sports car formula into its next chapter with a heritage-inspired exterior refresh, a new manual transmission option for Z NISMO, and handling upgrades aimed at sharper, more consistent performance. Nissan designers looked back at generations like the S30 and 300ZX for styling cues, then paired that history with real mechanical changes: GT-R-derived front brake rotors on NISMO, larger-diameter shock absorbers on Performance, and a revised fuel tank across the lineup for steadier fuel delivery during hard cornering. The result is a car that reads as clearly connected to its roots while functioning as a thoroughly modern machine. The 2027 Z is available now at Plaza Nissan in Hamilton, giving drivers across the Golden Horseshoe a chance to see the changes in person. Three grades carry the lineup forward: Sport, Performance, and NISMO, each with its own mechanical and visual identity.
What’s new on the 2027 Nissan Z?
Exterior
The most noticeable update sits at the front of the car. A new split grille, inspired by the original 240Z (also called the S30), replaces the previous single-opening design, with a body-colour bar running horizontally through the middle. A Z-branded emblem now sits where the Nissan logo used to be on the nose, a detail also shared with the S30, S130, Z31, and Z32 generations. Underneath the new face, engineers reworked the front parking sensor packaging to fit the revised grille shape without compromising cooling.
Sport and Performance grades can now be finished in Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic, a new colour that pairs exclusively with a Super Black roof. The paint takes its inspiration from Grand Prix Green, offered decades ago on the S30, and uses ultra-fine yellow and blue pigments with a mild metallic flake to resist fading while highlighting the car’s character lines. Performance grade also gains redesigned 19-inch forged wheels with black spokes and a machined-finish rim, a detail Hamilton-area drivers will notice parked outside on Upper James or along the escarpment.
Interior
Inside, the cabin keeps its 2-passenger, driver-focused layout, built around an 8-inch touchscreen and a fully digital TFT meter display. Every grade includes a standard instrument panel-mounted 3-bay gauge cluster that reads turbocharger boost, turbine speed, and voltmeter, alongside the primary digital cluster showing speed, revs, coolant temperature, and fuel level. Sport grade uses black woven cloth seating in an 8-way manual driver’s seat, while Performance steps up to synthetic suede inserts or leather-appointed seating with a heated driver’s seat and a unique seat cushion and bolster design.
New for this model year, Z Performance can be ordered with a tan interior, a nod to the S30 generation’s colour palette, contrasting against black cabin materials on the upper dash and doors. NISMO grade carries leather-and-Alcantara-appointed Recaro seats built specifically for that model, along with NISMO interior badging throughout the cabin. The fully digital meter display also introduces a new startup animation across Sport and Performance grades, cycling through seven generations of Z as the car powers on; NISMO retains its own unique startup sequence and exclusive meter graphics.
Powertrain
Every 2027 Z is built around the same VR30DDTT 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6, a DOHC design with direct injection and Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control. In Sport and Performance grades, the engine produces 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Z NISMO’s version of the same engine is tuned to 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque, running through NISMO-specific engine cooling. All 2027 Z models also gain a redesigned fuel tank that helps keep fuel positioned near the pump during sustained, high-G cornering, supporting steadier engine performance on demanding roads.
Drive layout across the lineup is mid-mounted front-engine, rear-wheel drive. A 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission with an EXEDY high-performance clutch is standard on all three grades, with a 9-speed automatic available on Sport and Performance. For 2027, Z NISMO adds an available 6-speed manual of its own, engineered with a shorter shift lever ratio and an upgraded clutch, plus manual-specific throttle and ignition timing tuning for sharper response. Performance and NISMO both include a mechanical clutch-type limited-slip differential, while all grades offer Limited Traction mode and Hill Start Assist.
Technology
Infotainment & Audio
Every Z includes an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming and hands-free calling, Siri Eyes Free, a hands-free text messaging assistant, and voice recognition. Sport grade pairs this with a 6-speaker Nissan audio system, while Performance and NISMO upgrade to a Bose audio system with 8 speakers, Active Noise Cancellation, and Active Sound Enhancement, both retuned for 2027 to work with the new NISMO manual transmission. Performance and NISMO also add NissanConnect with a WiFi hotspot, including a trial period, plus NissanConnect Services telematics.
Driver-Assist & Convenience
A new Qi2 wireless charging pad is available on Performance and NISMO, offering up to 15 watts of output with a cooling fan and magnetic alignment to keep compatible devices in place.
